Calico Ghost Town is
a historic silver mining town in the Mojave Desert near Barstow. Its authenticate
480-acre silver mining town has 500 mines, 22 saloons, and mercantile stores.
Calico became a ghost town when silver prices dropped in 1907 and borax mining
moved to Death Valley.
Cucamonga
Guasti is an urban park with swim complex east of Ontario. The 150-acre
park has 10-acre and 4-acre surface lakes stocked year-round with over 24,000
pounds of trout and catfish. Other features located within the park are features
a swim complex consisting of a large sandy beach surrounded by a spacious grass
area and a 220-twin flume waterslide and handicap accessible splash pool.
Lake
Gregory Regional Park is a mountain lake with lodge, and a water park near
Crestline. The 150 acre park offers fishing all year, along with the choice
for a picnic, hike, swim, or a day out in the boat. The park is open for swimming
during the summers months. White sandy beaches await avid sunbathers along with
a two-flume, 300' waterslide. Two sand volleyball courts are available for family
fun or tournament games. Rowboats, aqua cycles, paddleboards, sailboats, and
sailboards are available for rent during the summer months.
