Bernardino Health Department offers
the following services at little or not cost: AIDS/STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease)
Control, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention, Animal Care and Control, California
Children Services, Child and Adolescent Health, Emergency Medical Services (EMS),
Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Family Support Services, Food Protection,
Housing / Property Improvement, Immunizations, Inland Counties Emergency Medical,
Agency (ICEMA), Maternal Health Program, Media Design Studio, Nutrition Program,
Perinatal and Adolescent Life Section (PALS), Preventive Veterinary Services,
Recreational Health, Reproductive Health Services, Safe Drinking Water, Statistics
and Vital Records, Tobacco Use Reduction Now (TURN), Traffic SAFE Program, Tuberculosis
Control Program, Vector Control, Veterinary Services, and Waste Management, and
Women, Infants and Children (WIC).
The Immunizations Program provides comprehensive immunization
services to reduce the incidence of specific diseases that are known to be preventable
by immunization. The Immunizations Program provides program services include
year round pediatric immunization clinics, seasonal adult immunization services
for influenza and pneumococcal pneumonia, travel immunizations, and activities
for prevention of Hepatitis B during the perinatal period. California Children
Services (CCS) provides medical and financial case management services to eligible
children with physically handicapping conditions. The Nutrition Program provides
referrals to emergency food resources to those in need of food assistance and
raising community awareness about food security.
The AIDS Program performs HIV antibody testing, surveillance,
and special epidemiologic studies; operates the AIDS Drug Assistance Program;
and provides outpatient medical, dental, and prevention education services.
Program activities are designed to reduce the likelihood of HIV transmission.
This program also promotes education and Counseling directed toward: prevention
of unintended pregnancies, prevention of sexually transmitted infections, and
promotion of responsible sexual activity or abstinence
